Okay so right off the bat, I’m just gonna say that this album is a HUGE improvement from Habits And Contradictions. I feel like he has greatly improved as an artist and despite the expectations everybody has on him as a TDE artist, he is not Kendrick Lamar or Ab-Soul, nor does he want to be as he has proven with Oxymoron.
Okay so production wise, I am strongly intrigued by the selections he chose. A lot of the production is smooth and easy listening type melodies that aren’t often used in today’s Hip Hop. From Gangsta Gangsta, to Studio and Prescription. I think my favorite production piece was to Collard Greens and Hoover Street.
Lyric wise, as I said, I feel like he has grown lyrically and that his storytelling feels more authentic now that he’s decided to choose delivery and energy over complexity. I think my favorite tracks lyrically are Oxymoron, Prescription, Collard Greens, Los Awesome and Hell Of A Night.
I think my least favorite songs were What They Want, Yay Yay and His And Her Fiend.
Overall, I give it about an 8 out of 10. It’s a great album, good energy and a great improvement from his previous album.
